Welcome to our first family update! My hopes are to post these semi-regularly to look back on. March was a month filled with good friends, too much good food, our first 10K race, a trip to see my brother’s family in Colorado, and two boys who just can’t seem to stop growing so fast! Noah is now a big 1 year old as of February and Joshua is about to turn 3 in April! We are enjoying them starting to play together and love being brothers.
We kicked off the month with Evan’s 27th birthday on March 3rd! He unexpectedly had his birthday off after working day and night for many weeks after the Texas freeze. We went to lunch at one of our favorite restaurants on our street that has a playground out back, and a dad gave us a great list of breweries, bars and restaurants around town with playgrounds! It was basically the most exciting thing ever. After naps, we had a great afternoon exploring some of the places on his list and have some new favorites now. If you live in Houston, Walking Stick Brewing Co, Preslee’s, and Wakefield Crowbar are some of our faves!

After being peer pressured by some of our friends, Evan and I signed up for The Woodlands Marathon 10K a few months ago. Evan has been consistently running for a while now, but I have seriously not ran more than a couple miles in my entire life. After lots of encouragement from running with friends and falling in love with having a hobby that Evan and I can enjoy together (and with the kids in our jogging stroller), we actually made it to the day and had a great time. We both hit our goal and finished in under an hour and hope to sign up for the 10 for Texas 10 mile race in the Fall and (at least for Evan) a half marathon eventually!

We had the best party to celebrate the Solemnity of St. Joseph with friends. There were probably 30 children under the age of 7 having a blast running wild in the backyard while we got to celebrate and eat some great meat dishes on a Friday in Lent.

Evan’s sister, Audrey, and our brother in law, Collin, are welcoming their first baby boy in April!!! We are so excited for them and they have asked us to be the Godparents and we are so thrilled to be praying little Elliot to heaven. We were able to go to their baby shower in College Station and kiss that sweet bump! Please join us in praying for an easy last few days(!) of pregnancy and a smooth delivery for Audrey!

The boys and I were able to spend a week up in Colorado visiting my brother, SIL and their 3 kiddos (and 1 on the way). It is probably the last time I will be able to fly alone with them for a trip like that so it was definitely bittersweet. We survived the plane rides (barely), and we were so happy to do life with our people for a week. They played for hours in the backyard, showed us some of their favorite places, all got to have a big sleepover in the same room, and the big kids spent most of the week fighting over who got to play and snuggle with Noah. Thanks to Jonathan, Kathleen and I were able to get some prayer time alone and all of the adults were able to go to dinner and hangout the night before we flew back. It was so good to see them, but we sure missed Evan though!

Another few good things that happened this month: our Chickfila is finally open for dine-in (!!!) and you know this is a big deal for our family. We went to The Zoo for our friend’s birthday and to see the new Dinosaur exhibit (Joshua was surprisingly afraid of it), hung out at Discovery Green Park with my cousin’s cute baby Liam, played “car wash” on the driveway countless times, started practicing t-ball at the park with Joshy, and Noah has learned to climb on top of anything and everything. We are excited for this new month of April and all it will bring and to spend all Easter season long celebrating the Resurrection!

We would love to hear how you have been doing this month in the comments below! Thanks for following along and sharing in the joy of our family. May God bless you!
